Today’s photo post – inspired, as always, by Treading Lightly! – is about elephants. On my last visit to Thailand I went to the Elephant Nature Park, a beautiful sanctuary about an hour or so’s drive from Chiang Mai. It is home to over 30 elephants, many of them rescued from dire situations. Elephants may be a national symbol, but that doesn’t always mean they are treated well.
At the Elephant Nature Park you can feed the elephants their morning snack of bananas, and feed them in the river in the afternoon (warning: be prepared to get wet). If you’d like to read more about them, check out Treading Lightly. The elephants are in chapter three!
